The short version

  • If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
  • The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233) and SafeLink, the Massachusetts statewide hotline (1-877-785-2020), are free, confidential and answered 24/7.
  • Locally, the YWCA of Western Massachusetts and Alianza DV Services offer hotlines, shelter and advocacy, including help in the Springfield, Westfield and Northampton courts.
  • Closing a web page does not erase your browsing history. If someone may be watching your phone or computer, use a safer device.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Your safety and privacy: closing this page does not erase your browsing history, and internet and device use can be monitored. If you are concerned someone may see your activity, consider using a safer device, such as a public computer at a library. See NNEDV's tech-safety guidance.

Help is available, it is free, and it is confidential. You do not need to be sure what you want to do next before you call. The people on these lines help with safety planning, shelter and what comes after, at your pace.

This post is part of a series on the organizations listed on our community resources page. Dunn & Phillips is not affiliated with any of them.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

Free and confidential, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A good first call if you are not sure where to start, or if you want to talk it through before deciding anything.

SafeLink is operated by Casa Myrna. It is answered 24/7, it is multilingual, and it helps with shelter, support and safety planning anywhere in Massachusetts.

YWCA of Western Massachusetts

The YWCA provides emergency shelter and SAFEPLAN court advocacy in the Springfield, Westfield and Northampton courts. SAFEPLAN advocates help survivors through the court process. Services are free and confidential, in English and Spanish.

Alianza DV Services

Alianza, formerly Womanshelter / Compañeras, provides confidential domestic violence services for the Holyoke area and Hampden County: a hotline, shelter and advocacy.

NNEDV Safety Net: staying safe online

The National Network to End Domestic Violence's Safety Net project publishes digital-safety guidance for survivors, covering phones, accounts and location tracking. It is information only, not a hotline.

After you are safe

Survivors sometimes have legal questions later, about housing, money, or an injury someone caused. The civil legal aid organizations in our post on free and low-cost legal help can help, and so can we.

The full list is on our community resources page. The details there were last reviewed on June 22, 2026. Services and hours change, so confirm with the organization.
