The Hampden County courts

The office is convenient to the Hampden County courts, though most cases never reach them. Most injury cases settle, but insurers pay fairly when they believe a firm is ready to try the case, so we prepare every one for trial from the start.

Springfield and the towns around it

Springfield is a working city, and the main office serves it along with the Hampden County cities and towns around it: Chicopee, Holyoke, Westfield, Agawam, West Springfield, Ludlow, Wilbraham, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, and Palmer. It also serves Hampshire County: Northampton, Amherst, Easthampton, and South Hadley.

What a first visit looks like

The office has on-site parking. Walk-ins are welcome. If you would rather not wait, call ahead and we will set a time. If travel is difficult after an injury, tell us when you call and we will make arrangements.

Bring whatever you have. After a crash, that means the police report, your photos, the other driver's insurance information, witness names, your medical bills and repair estimates, and a note of any work you have missed. For an estate, bring the will, a list of the accounts and how each is titled, and the deed to any real estate. If you do not have all of it, come anyway.

The first conversation costs nothing. You tell us what happened, we tell you whether you have a case, and there is no obligation either way. For an injury, that takes about 20 minutes: whether you likely have a claim, which deadlines apply, and what comes next, or that you do not need us. If an insurance adjuster has called, talk to us before you give a statement.

Injury cases carry no fee and no costs unless we recover money for you. The percentage is fixed in a signed written agreement before we start. For estate work, we quote a flat, predictable fee before you commit.

The matters this office handles

Personal injury. Car, truck, and motorcycle crashes; slip-and-fall and other premises injuries; dog bites; medical malpractice; workers' compensation; and wrongful death. Ice sits on walkways from Springfield to Westfield for a third of the year, and a snow-and-ice claim carries a 30-day written notice requirement most people have never heard of. Call early.

Probate and estate planning. Wills, trusts, health care proxies and powers of attorney, estate and probate administration, guardianship, and transfers of real property. A will tells the court who gets what. It does not skip the court. Some estates qualify for a lighter path, and some property passes outside probate entirely. We can tell you which applies before you spend a filing fee.

Civil disputes. Contracts, construction, business, collections, and real estate and property disputes. Personal injury is the firm's focus. We take on the civil disputes we are the right firm to handle, and when we are not, we tell you at the start rather than after a retainer. We do not handle employment disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, divorce, or child custody.

The people in the Springfield office

Cornelius W. Phillips, III, Named Founding Partner. Neil founded the firm with Eileen Dunn. He is from Springfield and has practiced law in Western Massachusetts since 1979. His work over four decades spans real estate, serious personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, probate, and estate planning.

Valentina Davydov, Senior Paralegal. Val joined the firm in August 1999 and works primarily in personal injury and civil litigation. She speaks Ukrainian and Russian.

Haley Daigneault, Senior Paralegal. With the firm since February 2021. Haley handles probate and estate planning matters.

Sultan Yanbul, Paralegal. Sultan supports the personal injury practice and assists clients in English and Turkish.

Busra Kalkan, Legal Assistant. Busra supports the personal injury practice and assists clients in English and Turkish.

Lauren Grachuk, Legal Assistant. Lauren joined the firm in April 2026 and works primarily in civil litigation and case management.

Michael Gilerman, Legal Assistant. Michael joined the firm in January 2026 and supports its civil litigation work, including consumer protection and breach of contract cases. He now works from Washington, D.C., where he is a first-year law student.

Hannah Davydov and Maame Kyei, Operations. Hannah and Maame support the firm's day-to-day operations. Hannah assists clients in English and French.
